3on3 Hoops Tournament Rules

TEAMS:

Consist of 3 or 4 player teams, with each player having completed no more than the grade for which the division is named.

GAMES:

Each game will start on the ½ hour (5 minute warmup; 20 minutes of continuous play; 5 minute transition to the next game).

SCORING AND GAME WINNER:

Each basket is worth 1 point (layups, jumpshot from any distance, or freethrow); First team to score 15 points (winning by 2 pts); or the team leading at the end of the 20 minute running clock. The referee will record the official final score and a designated runner will shuttle the score card to the scorers tent.

SHOOTING FOULS:

Upon the commission of a shooting foul, the fouled player will shoot from the standard free-throw line with no live-rebound off of a miss. Regardless of a missed or made free throw, possession goes to the opposing team.

PLAYER DISQUALIFICATION:

(1.) Players committing 4 fouls will foul out; (2.) Players exhibiting unsportsmanlike conduct or flagrant/intentional fouls will be disqualified for the current game and two successive games.

POSSESSION:

Determined by coin flip at the beginning of the game; alternating possession following a score or out of bounds or following a free-throw.

TAKE BACKS”:

Following a missed shot and a defensive rebound, the rebounding team must pass the ball behind the “take-back” line, and the receiving players’ feet (both) and the ball must make it beyond the take-back line before resuming an offensive attack.
