What is the mission of the Warrenton Youth Soccer Club? The founders of WYSC created the league as a place where children of all ages and abilities could learn about sports while having fun. The emphasis is on learning, teamwork and sportsmanship.
By club policy, all fields used by WYSC at the Athey Complex are closed on Mondays. As a result, no WYSC practices will be permitted at the Athey Complex on Mondays this season.
For those teams who wish to practice at Athey, your team must be willing to commit to a MINIMUM of 4 hours of volunteer time to the club during the season. This volunteer time may involve painting fields, patching nets, setting out/putting away corner flags, moving goals and/or team benches, distributing uiforms or pictures, helping with end of season tournament, etc. In many cases, we can arrange for the parents of your players to knock this commitment out during practices. For example, depending on the mowing schedule, Thursday and Friday afternoons are the perfect time to paint the fields and set out the corner flags for the coming weekend’s games. Parents can do this while their children practice. Two parents can spend an hour painting during practice over the course of two weeks, and your team’s commitment is met.
In order to secure, or maintain, a practice slot at Athey, a team must be represented at the pre-season Coaches' Meeting. Teams that were awarded a slot at Athey, but are not represented at the meeting, will have their slot cancelled and they will be moved to another location. There will be no exceptions to this policy.
When we make field assignments at Athey, we will make every effort to place you on the correct sized pitch for your team. If we can tell in advance that we are going to have capacity issues, we will let those of you on the low end of the totem pole know that you may not be able to secure the correct sized pitch. You can withdraw your request, or practice on a different sized pitch, if available.
